# About our data

* **Source:** NEIWPCC, [Listings of Approved System Inspectors and Soil Evaluators](https://neiwpcc.org/our-programs/wastewater/mass-title-5/listings-of-approved-system-inspectors-and-soil-evaluators/), three System Inspector PDFs (in-state by town, out-of-state, by last name) current as of 10/2/2026, retrieved 2026-10-12. NEIWPCC maintains these lists for MassDEP.
* **Terms:** the page and PDFs carry no stated license or reuse terms. They are public lists published for consumers to find inspectors. Reuse terms should be confirmed with NEIWPCC (title5@neiwpcc.org) before launch.
* **Cleanup:** 1139 of 1,328 approved inspectors are shown. 0 were expired at retrieval. Inspectors whose listed association is a board of health, town, county or MassDEP are left out. Villages and misspellings (Hyannis, N. Billerica, Leominister) were mapped to the municipality. People with the same association in the same town are grouped into one listing. The full change log is in data/cleanup-log.csv.
* **Not on the source list:** phone numbers, emails, websites and service areas. For 176 inspection companies that we matched with high confidence to their Google Maps listing (October 30, 2026), cards show the phone, website and Google rating from that listing, plus an email where the company publishes one on its own website. Each addition is labelled on the card with its source and date. Other listings show only the NEIWPCC data until the inspector claims the listing.
* **No endorsement.** Confirm approval and get written prices.
